“I'm humbled to be able to spend my life surrounded by creativity and adventure, and hope through my work I can instill the same passion in future generations. Appreciative of the esteem from so many generous people around the world, who've I had the pleasure of capturing a moment in time with, I dedicate this online gallery to their support”

In the Field

  • Michael’s work often incorporates historical & cultural underpinnings; firmly believing that it’s through the past we can pave a way forward, it’s with a profound respect he hopes to study and understand his subjects, …so together, we can shoot toward a brighter future.

  • Whether photographing a pristine lake in canoe country, or traveling across the globe, as an ardent believer of “Leave No Trace” principles, Michael takes the utmost care in-field as to not disrupt his surrounding environments.

  • For video projects, and aerial photography, he sometimes utilizes a drone and is dedicated to operating within his legal limits or with commercial consent when applicable.

  • From the field, to the print, to packaging, Michael uses eco-friendly alternatives whenever possible and limits his editions sizes as to help mitigate his carbon footprint.

CAUSES

“Since being introduced to a greater world beyond my own backyard, I’ve been actively focusing my skills to help promote environmental and cultural awareness through independent creative storytelling and impactful photography.”

An advocate of using his unique talents and position to help charitable causes and organizations that help keep him inspired, Michael is an ardent proponent of the Save the Boundary Waters continuing campaign to protect the pristine million acre federal wilderness from the threat of sulfur-ore copper mining just outside the watershed connecting North-Eastern Minnesota with Canada.

With his collection Protected Lands, Michael donates 5% of print sales to the National Park Foundation and it’s efforts to help preserve the untouched beauty of the United States' National Park Service.

In the case of individual series, Michael is open to contributing to local community non-profits in the form of print donations, speaking engagements, and partnership opportunities. Please contact with inquiries.
